Description: Glass Beads

Details: Numerous colors of glass were used to create these unique rectangular textured glass beads. All AJGlass beads have been properly annealed. Due to the differences in monitor settings, the colors of these beads may look slightly lighter, slightly darker, or otherwise different on your monitor than the beads look in real life. The bright white squiggly lines on these beads are light reflections. The dime is for scale and not for sale.

Delivery: Please allow one week for delivery, longer for international orders. Weather permitting, I try and ship the following business day after payment has been received and cleared. Beads will be shipped with delivery confirmation when possible and the purchaser will be provided with the package’s shipping/tracking number so that he or she can track (via the US Post Office website) where their package is at any particular time during transit. Delivery confirmation may not be available outside of the United States.

Discussion: Every now and then I get a bit hungry while I’m working at my torch. The hungrier I become, the more my mind wanders towards visions of food and the more my glass pieces become food-orientated. This hunger effect can be easily seen in many of the pieces I’ve previously made - such as Breakfast In Texas, Glass Hotdog, and my Glass Cheerio and Milk Pendant.

My hunger has affected my art once again and I’ve created these new pieces which I’m calling French Fries. While they may not be French Fry colored, they are indeed French Fry shaped – being grooved rectangles. That’s right, each of these beads is actually a rectangle with four distinct grooved sides. Now some of you may never have seen a French Fry in this shape, but where I live they are quite abundant – being served at numerous restaurants around town.

Of course, I’ve taken some creative liberties with these French Fries by aligning their grooves on an angle (to make them more aesthetically appealing) and by using colors that no French Fry has (or probably should) ever come in.

Further comment: These beads were a lot of fun to make. All of them were made in one late night / early morning span of time. They were allowed to cool in vermiculite for 8 hours while I slept. Even with such a long and slow cooling time, three of them still shattered. Sadly, all three that shattered were really pretty. For some reason, it’s never the ugly ones that blow themselves apart.
